Aided and assisted by artists from Laundry, on Monday thirty participants from the Art Institute and the Institute of Political Science and Diplomacy at Vytautas Magnus University – along with students from the Institute of Polish Culture at Warsaw University -  set off in search of the Wonders of Kaunas. Come along and see their work in progress on Friday December 7th at 6pm!

The important thing


 

Our whole trip was based on meeting people who work in different theatre groups not controlled by the state and on examining contemporary Lithuanian theatre. The amateur theatre movement in Lithuania is very much alive, and very varied. There is a strong difference between groups working in cities and those situated in villages.

Study trip to Lithuania: meetings and experiences

The 14th of April will be remembered by Lithuanian and Polish students as the day on which their impressive cultural adventure started. On that day they met each other in the capital of Lithuania Vilnius to continue their trip through the regions called Lithuania Minor and Samogitia and finaly reach the unique sand dunes in Curonian Spit. Students have met the representatives of non-professional theatre troupes as well as the independent professional artist, cultural workers and academicians on their way. This gave them a great opportunity to study a structure of non-professional theatre movement in Lithuania and to better understand its function in cultural animation. Beside that students were introduced to different professional artists, who seek for alternative ways of social interaction. Continue reading

Lithuanian and Polish students make a study trip to Lithuania

In April a thirteen person group will make a one week study trip to Lithuania investigating independent theatres and other cultural activities from the perspective of cultural animation. Lithuanian students from Art Institute (VMU) will meet Polish students from Instytut Kultury Polskiej (WU) in Vilnius, jointly will go to Kaunas for a one day stop and team-building before a grand tour through the specific region of Lithuania called Lithuania Minor.
