A quick guide to our future playground- Gozdowo.
Gozdowo is a village northwest of Warsaw, between Płock and Sierpc. Officially it has around 6000 citizens but this stands for whole Gozdowo communal area so the village itself has less inhabitants.
You can find Gozdowo on GoogleMaps which shows that it is a little in middle of nowhere but it is not that true. There are many surrounding villages of different sizes but rather small.
It is rather easy to get there. By car it is 2 hours from Warsaw and by bus around 2,5 hours with some problems because it doesn’t go straight to Gozdowo but Sierpc.
Anyway Gozdowo is fairly accessible to the masses.
Gozdowo is not big itself but it is a center of this area so it gathers many important institutions like council, church, graveyard, firefighters, few shops and school.
Almost everything is situated around large center court – a crossroad of all important roads going through.
The school is very big becouse it gheatehers kids from all around at two education levels There are kids from 7 to 15 years old in large amount. The school has a lot of various facielities that could be used like computer room, very large sporting hall(around 4 basket courts or more), large classrooms, football field, mess and many others.
Village council and priest are very friendly and they will surly support us.
There is a pub located in firefighters depot.
There is a small park area with small stage and island which i supposed to be a buried soviet tank – an urban(village) myth.
Social, economical situation.
Gozdowo is in quite good condition economically and so are its citizens. Few years in EU done some good – ore than some. Surely there is poverty but it is not visible.
Many kids have computers, cellphones and mp3 players and they seem no to be as interested in new technology as citi-kids do.
Anyway we are not going to some sort of gods forsaken village but rather in to a prospering
community.
Our accommodation
There are two accommodation possibilities and it is no decided yet were we will be staying.
Proposal A is school in village 3 miles away. It will be rather camp than hotel but this option has many advantages.
Proposal 1 is agrotourist household at borders of Gozdowo – less space, a little bit less freedom, great food, great overall.
