SMALL INVENTORY IN PRAGUE

In the last week of February (20 – 25 / 2 / 2007), five Prague theatres hosted the fifth annual Small Inventory festival. Under the motto “The cream of this year’s theatre crop” , the festival presented the most interesting authorial physical, dance, visual, interactive, non verbal and cross–over theatre projects to have premiered in the last year. During the course of six days, fans of new theatre had a chance to catch the performances that they’ve missed during the last year and see projects from outside of Prague. The sold out performances of last year’s festival testify to a steady interest in theatre whose creators want to respond to current trends with new approaches, whose performances cut across traditional artistic genres and who add new conventions and forms of expression to the theatrical lexicon. This representative selection of more than twenty authorial projects offers a picture of how and in what direction contemporary Czech experimental project creation is progressing. This year you are once again warmly invited to Prague theatres with a steadfast and long-term commitment to the creation of experimental theatre. The festival will take place in the theatres Alfred ve dvoře (Alfred in the Courtyard), Roxy/NoD, Nablízko Theatre, Archa Theatre and the Duncan Centre Theatre.

One of the largest festivals of its type in Czech Republic, the Small Inventory is organised by the Motus, producer of Alfred ve dvoře Theatre, in collaboration with the New Web association, a network of regional production centres and festivals. During the festival, New Web was providing the guestservice for regional guests from Czech Republic and from abroad.

New Web together in collaboration with Society of Richelieu is going to participate on the Animator project. They will publish – within this project  – the publication-map of smaller cultural  regional centres in Czech Republic (within its Czech part beside which is going to be also the Polish one). At the meeting of regional partners within the Small Inventory festival was presented also a second part of the project initiated by Animator: a six-months´ series of weekend workshops and seminars offered by students of Theatre Academy and active artists for regional organizators to animate and inspired each other work.
